More Information

THE COURSE
The Route Director was born in the Forests of the Hurtwood and has been running through them ever since he could stand. He knows them hills and he knows which will hurt and which will not. In 2018 the routes will be tweaked and some of those hills will be added. As all the distances will be extended, for some it will be a case of ‘we meet again’. For others it will be ‘glad to meet you. I’ve heard so much about you…’

DISTANCES
When you enter, assume distances are approximate. ie approximately 5k, approximately 10k and approximately 21k. They will be a couple of kms more than stated. Fear not, this will continue to be trail running at its best!

REGISTRATION
Enter online and collect your race number and chip on the day at the Hurt registration near the start line. Registration opens at 07:45 and closes at 08:45.

TRAVEL
Nearest train station is Gomshall. Trains to Gomshall are few and far between!
Nearest mainline stations are either Guildford or Dorking then taxi to Peaslake. If you come by taxi, get out on Lawbrook Lane, before you get to the event field. There is only one way in and out. The taxi will be stranded inside until all traffic inbound traffic has ceased. If you come by bike there's plenty of fencing around the start/finish venue meadow to chain your bike to.

WHAT TO WEAR
Trail shoes. The ground is rocky in parts so spikes may not be suitable. Come prepared for steep ascents and descents, running on sandy and stony trails and single tracks!

HYDRATION POSTS
There will be water and jellybabies at the water stations.

REFRESHMENTS
Coffee and tea will be available at the start and finish. Water, cakes and bananas will be available at the finish. The Peaslake Village Stores is in the centre of Peaslake. Take advantage of them during your post race debrief.

WHAT YOU GET
All runners and spectators get free parking. The event will be chip timed and all runners will receive a medal as they cross the finish line!

The Hurt...

Lets just get this out there first....Yes it does live up to its name, yes it does Hurt and Yes it is in Hurtwood...

I love this event, last year i did the 10.5K so decided to go the full distance this year...I was not disappointed, and whilst its 2 laps of the same course that for me is also part of the appeal.

The first half is all about pacing and the mental battle of knowing you have to do this for a second time. the second lap, you can enjoy, its all downhill, well in distance at least!!

Yes its hard, yes there are ups and downs, yes my legs still ache; but equally it a beautiful run, glorious views from the top and a great sense of being part of something amazing.

The oganisation; easy, marshalling support; fab, drinks and sweeties on route; great and of course the much saught after brownies to finish, not to mention a nice medal too!

A definte must do and one i'll do again next year! Hills, what hills ;-)
