More Information

THE EVENT
The Surrey Hills Challenge is one of the biggest sporting challenges in Surrey. People of all ages and fitness can participate in one of four walking or running challenges: ‘The Ultra’, 60km – the ultimate challenge for the super fit ‘The Half’, 21km – no ordinary walk (or run) in the park ‘The Ten’, 10km – fast and furious ‘The Five’, 5km – for all the family THE

VENUE
The event is set in the beautiful landscape of the Surrey Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) on the Greensand Way. The Ultra starts in Haslemere at 07:00, before passing the Devil’s Punchbowl at Hindhead as it heads towards Witley. The Full joins the Ultra on the Greensand way at Witley before both routes head into the Surrey hills tackling Pitch Hill where they are joned by those participating on the Half. The three routes then ascend Holmbury Hill before they continue onto Leith Hill, and then the North Downs. Much of the route is hilly, but this provides stunning views across the beautiful Surrey countryside.

WHO'S IT FOR
The event is open to everyone, as we have a challenge to suit all abilities. Those under 16 on race day must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. The Ultra is for participants who are 18+ years old on race day.

WHAT YOU GET
As well as support from our dedicated Events Team before and during the event, participants also receive: A finishers medal, chip timing, aid stations, first aid cover, car parking at start and finish locations, WC facilities.

The Ultra

From - £82.00

Starts - 07:00

• 60km run • 2050m of climb • Complete in 12 hours

The Ultra route follows the Greensand Way, which originates in the heart of Haslemere and weaves out of town towards the infamous Devil's Punch Bowl, a large natural amphitheatre, through National Trust land.

The route is almost entirely on footpath with some road crossings and short stretches of road surface. The footpaths in places are narrow, with loose gravel, roots and the usual obstacles you would expect. There are stiles and gates to navigate and some road crossings where you’ll be helped across by volunteers.

Along the 60km route will be six aid stations offering a full range of food, snacks and drinks. Each aid station is managed by experienced volunteers, many of them runners themselves, and medics who will be checking your progress offering advice and support. You’ll never be left behind - this is an Ultra event for any level of runners looking for a new challenge.
