About this challenge

Red Bull Neptune Steps is the only race that takes you from horizontal to vertical in a matter of moments. Competitors face the challenge of a 420 metre sprint swim through the Maryhill Locks in Glasgow, incorporating eight climbs over the canal’s lock gates. Each gate presents a different test, with cargo nets, rope ladders or ropes to aid the ascent. For 100 elite athletes with experience in adventure swimming or endurance, military and multi events, Red Bull Neptune Steps is a true test of their speed and strength.

Phenomenal event

This is an amazing and unique event, not for the faint hearted, it is the perfect adrenaline fuelled challenge, I loved every minute even with the freezing water temps, a very well organised event!

I swam I climbed I conquered

Billed at the toughest uk open water swimming event it didn't disappoint! Well organised by RedBull with a buzzing atmosphere brought by the competitors and the people of Glasgow. The water was cold, the obstacles were tough and the feeling of accomplishment was high! I can't recommend this event highly enough, a must do event. But be quick it sold out in 9 mins this year! Stepping out of my comfort zone Going from a non-swimmer having lessons in October, I'll be back again trying to claw my way up the field in the future!
