Ridge Runner’s new 10km obstacle course run came to Southampton on the 1st and 2nd October 2016. Over 250 runners braved the wet and thundery weather to take on the challenge of over 30 obstacles on a variety of natural terrain.
The course expanded over 10 km of the Broadlands Estate and started and finished at Ridge Farm Obstacles included a variety of climbing walls and fences, jumping lily pads across the lake, a ridge swamp, water slide, monkey bars, monkey rings, cargo nets and the leap of faith across the Dragons Back at the end. Runners had to be prepared to run, swim and climb their way through the course. They dared to accept the Ridge Runner challenge and in doing so supported our chosen charity for 2016 – Muscular Dystrophy UK.
Ridge Runner will be returning on the 30th September 2017. Think you can take on the Ridge Runner challenge then book your ticket today to avoid disappointment. Early bird tickets are available for just £25.00 per person.
Participants must be over 16 years old and can enter individually or as a team. Free parking is available on site with free entry for spectators. We want you to bring your friends and family along to support you and enjoy our event village which will include refreshments and activities for the whole family including a mini obstacle course for children provided by Ridge Runner and The Romsey Scouts which will span over 1 km. Tickets will be available shortly for the mini obstacle course.
The course will expand over 10 km and will contain at least 30 obstacles some of which are found naturally on the land. We don’t want to ruin the surprise of what you will face but the obstacles will include a climbing wall, tyre climb, cargo nets and a big slide.
This was my first 10km run and I couldn't have enjoyed it more! It was hammering it down with rain when we turned up which made it very muddy and very fun. We went in a team of 5 people which proved to be essential as the obstacles were large enough to make teamwork a big factor. Jumping between wooden boards floated across a lake and the huge water slide probably being the highlights. I was able to record everything on my GoPro which I will be editing and uploading in the next couple of weeks at https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCWaQxkzg0G8_cukXLbeVEyA . It wasn't timed which made for a chilled vibe. I will definitely be running in 2017!!
