CARDIFF UNIVERSITY / CARDIFF HALF MARATHON BOASTS ONE OF THE MOST STUNNING 13.1 MILE COURSES AROUND. The route takes runners past the capital’s most iconic landmarks with beautiful scenery and historic buildings. The predominately flat and fast course makes it ideal for beginners and elites. The race starts outside Cardiff Castle and runners then head down past Cardiff City Stadium on the way to Penarth. They take in the glorious Penarth Marina before crossing the barrage and heading to Cardiff Bay. Runners run right through the heart of the bay taking in the Norwegian Church and Wales Millennium Centre. The course then heads towards the north of the city and runners will complete a loop of the beautiful Roath Park Lake before the grandstand finish in the heart of the city at the Civic Centre. The wheelchair race will start at 9:50am and the rest of the field will start at 10:00am. Check out the interactive route map on the home page to see the Cardiff Half Marathon route in more detail. The course will be policed and marshalled throughout. Race day facilities may be subject to change.
My 4th time doing the Cardiff Half Marathon and I'll be back again. The course is magnificent; you get to see the whole City. Support was immense and it was very well organised. The atmosphere was friendly and welcoming. To top it off the goody bag was a goody bag ! I've had several bags with so many leaflets of supplement drinks that I'll never buy, so to get tasty treats, drinks and snacks along with a medal and a cool t-shirt was great. Class day. Diolch Caerdydd, Dylan =)
A amazing event Every mile of the run was organised perfectly from the volunteers to the waters, music, ambulance, . A amazing experience had by one and all. Also spectators and the little kids were amazing all way around the course.
This was my second time of running the Cardiff Half Marathon with the first one being some years ago now with a different course so was very excited to tackle this new route. Straight from the off there was a buzzing atmosphere as the masses gathered excitedly. Found my way into the first pen for my hopeful sub 1.45 race. The crowd support was immense not just at the beginning in the city but throughout the bay and all along the route until the looped finish back into the city. This along with the bands created a terrific fun atmosphere driving everyone on to their goal of finishing. I struggled a bit with my last few miles being a bit slower but that's the price you pay for heading out too fast. Still finished within my target in 1.42. Nice big medal and well stocked goodie back with a technical tee made this a very worthwhile race. Not even any major hills to climb. Well recommended
I'm not usually a distance running but I have completed 3 Cardiff Half Marathons. This is my favourite race by far. The route, atmosphere and organising of the event is amazing. I found myself singing along to the bands playing and chatting to people around me. It's amazing what the atmosphere does for you - it keeps you smiling all the way around. Can't wait for next year!
This was the first time myself snd my husband have run the Cardiff Half and certainly won't be the last. We are registering for next year. We couldn't fault anything, baggage drop was speedy, plenty of facilities, lovely t-shirt and medal. Everything about the day was brilliant...even the Welsh weather ???
This was my 3rd Cardiff Half Marathon and it just gets better every year. The amazing volunteers I can't thank them enough. The course is brilliant and very scenic. Unlike other Half Marathons Cardiff don't double back on itself which personally I love The goodie bag was great well packed and still they handed out chips drinks and bananas Thank you Cardiff your amazing I'll be back next year for the Full Marathon in April and back October for the Half
This was my first half marathon, and was impressed with the whole set up, plenty of communications and advice prior to the event. Everything was easy (apart from the run!) dropping of bags heading to the start line with the other 20,000+ runners, water, gel stops. Cardiff people were in fine voice and the kids handing out sweets add to the day and help you get through the miles. The course was not hilly. We will be doing this next year.
The Cardiff Half is well organised, has a varied course and is a brilliant Half Marathon to run. There is a great atmosphere from the runners and spectators all around the course. We have run it 5 times now and have already signed up for next year.
A merry band of teachers and senior staff ran, jogged and crawled to the finish line to raise funds for our amazing Autism base. We were lucky that the weather was so sunny and that the town was filled with smiling faces cheering everyone on. The event was well run and managed, making the whole process as painless as running a half marathon can be. We were glad to finish, but would likely do it again!
My 1st half but what can I say... Amazing atmosphere, great city, beautiful scenery, amazing volunteers and awesome race! Thoroughly enjoyed! Cardiff... I WILL be back :)
